Rugby League Website
The Rugby League Website was created as an information portal packed with the latest news, information and statistics from the world of rugby league. The sport was first played in 1895 when the Northern Union broke away from Rugby Football Union (RFU) over a dispute. Other teams in countries across the world also began to break away from their unions and play using the Northern Union rules for the game. Rugby Football League was formed and became later known colloquially as rugby league. Over the years the rules have changed and the breakaway game and union have grown into very different sports.
The Rugby Super League is one of the latest innovations in the sport. Teams are hand picked and only represent the best players from around the world. It is the only full-time professional rugby league football club competition operating in the northern hemisphere. The majority of the teams based in the league come from the UK but recently there have been teams from other nations allowed to play such as Les Catalans Dragons from France who joined for the 2006 season. The winners of the super play against the premiers of the Australasian National Rugby League competition.
The website contains a wealth of information about non-super teams as well. The handy search function allows you scan across the large amount of information contained within the website to find exactly what you need. Regular news bulletins are posted whenever the website editors have any interesting information to report from the world of our favourite sport, keeping you abreast of the latest hot topics. There is also a useful listings section for amateur clubs containing details about the individual clubs. The final crowning jewel of the website is the extensive section about the new rugby super league.
